About Brodart
The seeds of Brodart Co. began in 1939 when a young Columbia University student named Arthur Brody invented the plastic book jacket cover. This innovation, in turn, gave birth to Brodart Co. In the 1950's Brodart Co. expanded into book distribution. Thus began Brodart Books Division.

The Books Division now offers libraries and schools books from over 25,000 publishers, and stocks its warehouse with over 225,000 titles and 2,000,000 books. Many of these books are shipped to libraries completely shelf-ready--fully cataloged and processed. These additional services, pioneered exclusively by Brodart, greatly reduce a librarian's workload.

We recognize that role of today's librarian becomes more challenging with each passing year. Balancing changing reader's needs with budget restrictions, coupled with the demands of technology installation and maintenance, leaves little time for selecting and purchasing quality books for your library.

We are the leading provider of shelf-ready books and media to both public libraries and schools. Brodart's custom cataloging and processing are regarded as the finest anywhere. In addition, our dedicated staff of collection development professionals design, maintain and consult in librarys' selection processes throughout the world.

The Brodart Books Division is dedicated to meeting the needs of school and public libraries with innovative products and services noted earlier. With a combination of experience, advanced technology and unmatched attention to personal service, Brodart Books works hard to support libraries and the communities they serve.

Today, 65 years after the innovative idea of the plastic book jacket cover, Brodart has grown to an international company offering a vast array of services and products to help with the challenges faced by today's libraries. The ability to understand and solve these challenges propels the Books Division to exciting possibilities of the future.
