Brodart Selections
Our Collection Development professionals develop "lists" of all kinds. Many types are generally useful, including book selections that are of widespread interest. Others are customized to a great extent. These are created for one specific library. Here are our basic types:

By Subject Area - Focused on a Dewey range or subject matter
|

By Format - Such as graphic novels or prebinds
|
|
|
By Brodart Grouping - Here's where we have fun. Lists are from small publishers, award winners, or just about any "cluster" that strikes us as useful.

Fully Customized - These are lists created for one specific library. You'll find information about them at the bottom of this page or via the "Services" tab above.

We try to sub-divide our lists into "categories" that make them more useful to libraries. Categories include:

Audience - By age range, interest level, high/low, "recommended," etc.
|
|
|
Core - Recommended titles that make up a core collection of a certain "type" of book
|
|
|
New and Current - Recently honored or awarded, topical, of current interest, bestsellers, etc.
|

Lists by Subject Area
Brodart creates and maintains lists of awards, subject areas and special Brodart bibliographies. These lists are available online and are used in many different collection development tasks. You can use these sources (in BIBZ and 1stPick) to customize your search and retrieve titles closely matching your needs and interests.

List building is more than simply important and useful. It's fun, too. Monitoring the latest graphic novel offerings or staying on top of hundreds of book awards around the world is a challenge. Exciting. What's more, we enjoy the satisfaction of providing an interesting and important service. Every library can profit from considering the books we discover along the way.
