Labels
Brodart provides a wide variety of labels for many uses on books and other materials. We also handle supplied labels, applying them where specified. In other cases, we provide loose labels for application by a library.

Barcode Label - 15/16" x 2-5/8"

Colors - Standard labels are available only in white. Inquire about special orders.
Font Choices - Brodart prints on labels in a variety of fonts, both serif and sans serif.
Label Protection - Labels applied to books over a protective book cover can be further protected with a strip of tape. Affixing labels under a cover saves the cost of this protector.
Location - Labels can be applied anywhere on a book. Special instructions concerning concealing information on the cover may override location and orientation specifications.
Orientation - The orientation of a label can depend on a number of factors, preference and custom being chief among them. However, in the case of spine labels, for instance, the thickness of a book may determine this choice. Commonly, the first three characters of a call number must be visible on the spine for the orientation to be appropriate. Additionally, when a label is oriented vertically, whether it reads top to bottom or bottom to top must be defined.
Label Types
Spine Labels - Contain each library's classification scheme for storage and retrieval purposes. Brodart will place the label according to the library's precise position and orientation requirements. Overriding factors relative to the thickness of a book may apply. Spine labels may include either seven or eight characters.
Property Label - Property labels display ownership in the same way a property stamp does. Often specified as a colored stock item, samples are helpful for Brodart to match a library's color preference.
Custom Label - Brodart provides almost any configuration of custom label.
Genre Label - Defines the fiction genre of a books; e.g. Mystery, Western, etc. Brodart souces these from many suppliers including Gaylord; Highsmith; The library Store…
Pocket or Bibliographic Label - A label attached to the pocket of a book. This label usually includes information regarding the Title, Author, Classification, and Acquisition information such as the list price of the book, the vendor (Brodart) and the month and year of purchase.
Label Protector - A 3M product that covers a label to protect it.
Label Application - Brodart will apply supplied labels per your instructions.
