Stamps
The purpose of the property stamp is to prevent unauthorized removal of a library's property or to prove ownership in a court of law. Traditionally, books are stamped with a consistent and distinctive color ink and in a specific font specified by the library.
There is no limit to the number or times a stamp can be applied to a book nor any restrictions on ink color. Stamps may be supplied by libraries or Brodart will have them made to specifications. Material and collection stamps can also be supplied.
In the unusual instance when a black stamp must be applied to a black material, Brodart either substitutes a property label or affixes a blank white label and stamps or laser prints on it.
